Handing of Personal Information

LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS CO., LTD. (hereinafter, “LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS”) strives to appropriately manage and protect personal information, including that of its customers, trading partners, shareholders and LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS employees (hereinafter, “persons concerned”), in line with its Privacy Policy. Specifically, LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS handles personal information as described below.

1. Acquisition and Use of Personal Information

When LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS requests personal information, it shall provide prior notification of the purpose of use of the information and whether or not the information will be shared with third parties.
LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS shall not use personal information it has received from persons concerned for purposes other than those given below.   2. LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS may use information acquired from third parties, such as customer interests, preferences, and website visit history, in connection with personal customer information already in LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS’s possession. In this case, LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS will first obtain consent from customers and use the information within the scope of the purposes outlined above.

3. Disclosure and Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties

LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS shall not disclose or provide personal data to third parties (including third parties outside Japan), except under the following conditions.

4. Preparation and Provision of Anonymously Processed Information

1. When preparing anonymously processed information, LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS shall do the following

5. Pseudonymously Processed Information

LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS may create pseudonymized information, which is personal information of a customer that cannot be used to identify the customer unless it is matched with other information, and analyze and use it for the purpose of developing new products and services for the Company. In such cases, LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS will take measures for the safe management of the pseudonymized information in compliance with laws, regulations, and internal rules.

6. Acquisition, Use, and Provision of Information Linked to Cookies and Other Identifiers

LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS uses cookies or similar technologies on its website to store and use customer information.
LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS provides identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies to ad-serving service companies for the purpose of delivering advertisements.

7. Personal Information Management

LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS shall manage personal information it has received from persons concerned in accordance with relevant laws and standards as well as its internal rules. In such cases, LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS will appropriately provide the supervision necessary to ensure the safe management of personal data. 8. Requests for the Disclosure, Etc., of Personal Data

If the persons concerned or their representatives request the disclosure of personal data or records of provision of personal data to third parties; correction, addition or deletion of content of personal data; suspension of use, deletion or suspension of provision to third parties (hereinafter “disclosure, etc.”) of personal data LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS has received from said persons, after verifying their identity, LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS shall respond to such requests within a reasonable time period and scope.

Cases in Which LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS Cannot Respond to Disclosure Requests

LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS may not be able to respond to requests for the disclosure, etc., of personal information or may not be able to disclose personal information in the manner requested in the circumstances described below. When LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS decides to not disclose such data, it shall notify the requester of its decision and the reason for the decision.

  • LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS cannot confirm that the requester is the person that the retained personal data concerns
  • LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS cannot confirm the right of representation claimed by a representative seeking to submit the request on behalf of the persons concerned
  • The request form is incompletely or incorrectly filled out, or the request has not been made in accordance with the methods specified by LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS
  • The information subject to the request for disclosure, etc., is not classified as retained personal data
  • Disclosure could cause harm to the life, safety or property, or otherwise infringe the rights of the persons concerned or a third party
  • Disclosure could cause significant impediment to the proper execution of LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS ’s business
  • Disclosure would violate other laws or regulations
  • Any other circumstances in which LION SPECIALTY CHEMICALS is not obligated to provide the disclosure, etc., of the data under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information
