1. What Are Catalyst Hybrid Deodorizer / Antibacterial Agent?

We have developed a new type of deodorizer/antibacterial agent that combines photocatalysts with the porous elements of existing deodorizer/antibacterial agents. This structure keeps photocatalysts from making direct contact with fabrics and thus does not damage cloth, paper or other organic materials.

3. LIONITE PC Characteristics


(1) LIONITE PC’s deodorizing and antibacterial effectiveness is longer lasting than existing Lion deodorizer/antibacterial agents. This is due to continuously self-regenerating deodorization capabilities thanks to LIONITE PC’s incorporation of photocatalysts that, when exposed to light, decompose foul-smelling substances that have been adsorbed on the product’s porous bodies.

Analysis of the effectiveness of formaldehyde deodorization under lightless and UV-lit conditions reveals that existing products lose their deodorizing effectiveness once the saturation point has been surpassed. In contrast, LIONITE PC decomposes formaldehyde under UV light to enable the self-regeneration of its deodorizing properties. (CO2 is produced when acetaldehyde decomposes)

(2) LIONITE PC displays a high degree of antibacterial capability when exposed to light compared with existing products.

MIC refers to the minimal inhibitory concentration required for antibacterial agents to suppress bacterial growth. A decrease in the value of MIC corresponds to a higher level of antibacterial effectiveness.

4. Examples of LIONITE PC Uses

[ Deodorization ]
(1) Room deodorization
Applied to lace and curtain fabric, LIONITE PC eliminates various day-to-day odors in rooms while featuring self-regenerative deodorant effectiveness when exposed to sunlight. Such features help maintain clean living spaces for an even longer period of time.
(2) Reduces perspiration odor
When applied to sportswear, LIONITE PC is effective, of course, in eliminating noticeable perspiration odor after sports. What’s more, this deodorizing effectiveness is increased when laundry is hung out to dry in the sunlight.

[ Antibacterial Functions ]
Antibacterial functions for towels and sheets
Unpleasant odors are produced when towels used to wipe away sweat and tablecloths are left unwashed for too long. Such odors are caused by bacterial growth. When LIONITE PC is applied to these items, bacterial growth is inhibited, which in turn prevents odors.
