The need for a high level of cleaning quality for precision components has been rising in line with the increasing miniaturization and precision of components. In addition, we have been developing low environmental burden cleaning systems to meet the demands of companies that are tackling environmental issues. In the automotive industry, for example, we are promoting the construction of high-detergency, low-environmental burden cleaning systems to meet the need for parts that are more precise accompanying the progress of automotive ITS (intelligent transport systems) as well as to help prevent recalls by improving component reliability.
Through its efforts to promote development of high-detergency, low-environmental burden cleaning technology, Lion has developed cleaning technology that utilizes spontaneous emulsification.
When a metal sheet on which oily grime clings is immersed in standard aqueous detergent, although a portion of the oil naturally balls up (the “rolling-up effect”), such grime cannot be completely removed. In contrast, if the metal is immersed in a detergent containing a spontaneous emulsifying detergent, which almost completely emulsifies oil at the microscopic level, the oil is easily removed.
