LIPOTEX OS-9000 is a water-based concrete curing agent usually sprayed directly onto the surface of fresh concrete. LIPOTEX OS-9000 is formulated from fatty acid derivatives. Once sprayed onto the surface, it forms a thin oil layer (see Fig1) that retards the loss of moisture from the surface. When properly applied, it produces hard, dense concrete that minimizes hairline cracking (see Fig2).
When compared with another commercial product, the layer formed with LIPOTEX OS-9000 was denser and stronger.
Cracks 0.2 mm or wider were reduced by using LIPOTEX OS-9000.
LIPOTEX OS-9000 is a true water-based agent that is safe to store. It can be diluted with only water and applied using a typical commercial sprinkling can or sprayer (hand or power). Unlike other curing agents, the timing of application is not critical and hence maximum effectiveness is achieved. It can be applied while bleed water appears on the surface because LIPOTEX OS-9000 forms a layer on the surface of the bleed water. It is recommended that this curing agent be sprayed following rough screeding.
LIPOTEX OS-9000 retains an optimum amount of the water in fresh concrete to allow complete hydration. The effect is optimal after about six hours, which is when fresh concrete tends to undergo damage (see Fig3). LIPOTEX OS-9000 improves the concrete’s effective compression strength (Fig4) and resistance to cracking (Fig5).
Because the main ingredients of LIPOTEX OS-9000 are absorbed into the concrete following hardening, residue does not remain on the surface of the concrete. Therefore, LIPOTEX OS-9000 does not prevent adhesion between flooring products and the surface of the hardened concrete (see Fig6).
Hot or windy weather makes the drying process quicker. If the surface of the fresh concrete has dried too much, the final finishing process may be difficult. In this situation, spraying of a curing agent may help troweling workability.
LIPOTEX OS-9000 is applied after dilution with water at a 10:1 ratio. An area of 900 m2 can be covered with one 18-kg can. The cost of curing can be reduced.
Test condition: temperature 24°C; humidity 42%; wind velocity 5 m/s.
Pour fresh concrete and compact carefully with a vibrator as per the usual process; then, roughly level the surface of the fresh concrete by screeding.
Dilute LIPOTEX OS-9000 with water at a 10:1 ratio. Do not add to or mix with any other compound. Otherwise, separation will occur. Mix gently to avoid foaming. Pour the mixture into the equipment used to spray onto the surface. The equipment must be clean and free of any previously used materials.
Spray the curing agent onto the surface with spraying equipment following screeding. The curing agent should be applied by the time the bleed water on the surface has dried. The application should be uniform at approximately 200 g/m2. Wash the equipment thoroughly with water. Once dried, it will be difficult to clean.
Use a bull float on the surface to level and compact the concrete.
When the bleed water on the surface has dried, it is ready for the final finish. The surface should be troweled by a hand or power trowel to make the concrete dense, hard, smooth, and durable. If the surface has dried too much during the final finishing, a small amount of curing agent will help make troweling easier.
LIPOTEX OS-9000 should not be applied to concrete when the temperature is below 0°C or rain is falling directly onto the surface of the concrete.

LIPOTEX OS-9000 comes in 18-kg cans, each of which is sufficient for treating about 900 m2 of concrete.
Direct exposure of LIPOTEX OS-9000 to sunlight should be avoided. It should be stored in a well-ventilated room at about 5-35°C with the tin can tightly closed.
